Membership fees and billing
Choice of insurance level
As a cashier, you choose the level of your unemployment security. Your insurance level determines the amount of your membership fee and your earnings-related daily allowance.

The level of insurance you choose must be
- at least €15 128 in 2025 and
- up to the annual income from your pension insurance (YEL/MYEL) or the total annual income from the different pension insurance schemes (YEL, MYEL, TyEL) paid for your business activity.
If you are a TyEL-insured part-owner of a company or a member of the family of an entrepreneur, your insurance level must be.
- up to your gross annual salary, and
- up to a maximum of your total annual income from the various pension insurance schemes (YEL, MYEL, TyEL) paid for your business activity.
At the lowest possible insurance level of €15 128, your membership fee will be €94 per year, or just under €8 per month. The membership fee is 1.7% of the part of your annual income above €9 600.
Set your insurance level immediately at the same level as your YEL, MYEL or TyEL income. If you later increase your insurance level by more than 20%, the new level will not fully affect your earnings-related daily allowance until 15 months after the increase.
Membership fee invoices
You can pay your membership fee in one, four or 12th instalment. We encourage you to opt for an e-invoice instead of a paper one.
You will receive your first membership invoice within 1-2 weeks after the membership form arrives at the cashier’s office. As a new member, you will pay your membership fee from the beginning of the month in which you become a member.
Our membership fees are deductible on your personal tax return. We will send the details of your membership fee directly to the tax authorities.
How to use your e-invoice
- Sign in to your personal online bank.
- Select the Entrepreneur’s Unemployment Fund as the biller, and enter your personal identification number as the unique identifier.
- In future, you will receive your invoices in your online bank.
Reduced membership fee
If your annual income from your pension insurance (YEL, MYEL, TyEL) is below the minimum level of 15 128 €/year under The Unemployment Allowances Act, your pension insurance has expired or has been terminated, or you are on sick leave for more than a month, receive pregnancy allowance or are a full-time student, you can apply for a reduced membership fee.
If you are an unemployed applicant for earnings-related daily allowance, you will automatically receive a reduced membership fee from the beginning of the full calendar month following the start of your unemployment.
The reduced membership fee is €3 per month or €36 per year. The period of membership fee reduction does not count towards the entrepreneur’s employment condition.
