Steps to take
Register as a jobseeker
Register as an unemployed jobseeker with Job Market Finland on your first day of unemployment at the latest.
Apply for daily allowance
Fill in the application form on your Member Pages no earlier than two weeks, but preferably four weeks after you become unemployed.
Please submit a certificate of your pension insurance and a sales profit form with the attachments.
After the decision
Once you have received a decision on your daily allowance, apply for allowance in periods of at least four weeks or calendar months, and make sure your job search remains valid.
Earnings-related daily allowance
Earnings-related unemployment allowance secures your livelihood during unemployment. You can claim earnings-related daily allowance if you have a valid work requirement and have been declared unemployed by the employment official.
To qualify for unemployment allowance, you must have been self-employed and a member of the Entrepreneurs’ Fund for at least 15 months in the previous 48 months. Your pension insurance must also have been valid at a minimum level of €15 481/year (2026 level).
You may be considered unemployed by the employment official if your business has closed down completely or your status or employment as a self-employed person has come to an end.
