It is your responsibility to make sure your membership details are up to date.

You can find your membership details on your Member Pages. On the Member Pages you can send us messages, fill in a daily allowance application, view your allowance payment details, update your contact details and check the status of your membership fee.

Adjust your insurance level

We do not receive information about changes to your pension insurance from your insurance provider. If your pension insurance changes, you can report the changes to us yourself.

Change your insurance level by messaging us on your Member Pages. Please write Change of insurance level in the subject field of your message and tell us your new insurance level and start date of the change. If you have chosen an insurance level that is too high, we can retroactively adjust your fees from the last 12 months.

Apply for a reduced membership fee

Apply for a reduced membership fee if.

  • your annual income from your pension insurance (YEL, TyEL, MYEL) is below the lower limit for unemployment security (€15 128 in 2025), or
  • your pension insurance has expired, or
  • you receive sickness allowance, partial sickness allowance or an equivalent benefit for more than one month of sick leave, or
  • you receive a pregnancy allowance or special pregnancy allowance.

Apply for a reduced membership fee by sending a message to the fund via your member Pages. In the subject line of the message , please write Reduced membership fee, and explain why you are applying for a reduction. In addition, submit to the Fund a certificate of the basis for the reduction (e.g. Kela’s sickness allowance decision or a certificate of termination of YEL-insurance) from the Attachments tab of your Member Pages.

The reduced membership fee is EUR 3 per month. We will grant the reduction retroactively for a maximum period of 12 months upon presentation of a certificate.

If you are unemployed and receive an earnings-related daily allowance from the Fund, you will automatically be granted a reduced membership fee from the beginning of the full calendar month following the start of your unemployment.

Work requirement and reduced membership fee
Entrepreneurs do not accrue the work requirement during the period when your membership fee is charged at a reduced rate.

The months you have accrued towards the work requirement before the reduced rate came into effect will remain valid for as long as they fall within the last 48 months, if the reason for the reduced rate is that your pension insurance has ended or is too low.

If a reduced rate is applied to your membership fee because you are unable to work, on maternity allowance, caring for a child under age 3 or studying full time, we can also take into account months of accrued work requirement over a period longer than 48 months. Months which you have previously accrued towards the work requirement will remain valid for as long as they fall within the last 11 years.

If you fall ill

If you fall ill, apply to Kela for sickness allowance. You can apply for a reduced membership fee for periods of sickness of more than one month. Read the instructions above under Apply for a reduced membership fee.

Changes in ownership?

Notify us of any changes in your ownership by sending us a message on your Member Pages.

In certain situations where there is a change in ownership, you may be treated as an employee for unemployment security purposes. For example, if you are a TyEL-insured part-owner or a family member of an entrepreneur, you are an entrepreneur if

  • you own alone or jointly with family members at least 15% or 30% of the company in which you work in a managerial position (director, board member)
  • you own, alone or jointly with family members, at least 50% of the company in which you work without a managerial position (as an employee).

Indirect ownership through another company can also be included in the definition of ownership as an entrepreneur. Indirect ownership through another company is counted if you own, or jointly own with your family, at least 50% of the intermediate company.

Changing your contact details

If your contact details have changed, please send us a message regarding the matter on your Member Pages.

Changing funds when becoming an employee

You should always choose an unemployment fund according to your main occupation. If you are transferring from entrepreneurship to paid work, you should join an unemployment fund for wage-earners because you cannot accrue wage earners’ work requirement as a member of the Entrepreneur Fund.

If you are transferring to a wage-earners’ fund, make sure you have paid your membership fees to us until the date you leave the Entrepreneur Fund. To maintain your accrued unemployment security when transferring from one fund to another, do not leave an uninsured period exceeding one month between fund memberships.

How your work requirement is retained when transferring to a wage-earners’ fund:

  • If you have accrued the work requirement as an entrepreneur and have received daily allowance from the Entrepreneur Fund, the work requirement remains valid in the wage-earners’ fund until you meet the work requirement as a wage-earner.
  • If you have accrued the work requirement as an entrepreneur but have received daily allowance from the Entrepreneur Fund because your sales profits have been subject periodisation, the work requirement remains valid in the wage-earners’ fund until you meet the work requirement as a wage-earner.
  • If you have accrued the work requirement as an entrepreneur but have not received daily allowance from the Entrepreneur Fund, the work requirement remains valid in the wage-earners’ fund for as long as it falls within the last 48 months of the start of your unemployment. The entrepreneur’s work requirement is the most recent 15-month period during which you have been a member of the Entrepreneur Fund, self-employed and maintained a sufficient insurance level. Termination of membership

You can terminate your membership of the Entrepreneur Fund by filling in a resignation form or by sending us a free-form message on your Member Pages. We kindly ask you to share the reason for your resignation.

Your resignation will come into force from the date of receipt of the notification or from a later date specified in the notification. You can withdraw your resignation in writing within one month.

Retirement

If you have been granted a full pension, a state pension or indefinitely valid disability pension, you cannot receive earnings-related daily allowance.

By paying the reduced membership fee, you can still use our other services. We offer you access to the KoulutusOnline training platform and webinars by leading professionals in their fields.

You can resign from the Entrepreneur Fund by messaging us on your personal profile page or by submitting a resignation form. If you do not resign your membership, we will continue to charge you a reduced membership fee (€3/month).
