Social benefits can have an impact on the earnings-related daily allowance. Some benefits prevent you from receiving the earnings-related allowance, some fully reduce the amount of the allowance and some have no effect on the benefits paid by the Fund.
Benefits that have no impact
These benefits do not usually reduce or prevent the payment of the daily allowance
- Voluntary pension insurance taken out by the individual
- Housing allowance or housing allowance for pensioners
- Child benefitMunicipal supplement to child home care allowance
- Partial care allowance (partial childcare leave)Flexible care allowance paid to a spouse
- Partially early old-age pensionSocial assistance (however, unemployment benefit may affect social assistance)
- Informal care allowance
- Care allowance for pensioners
- Disability compensation under the Accident Insurance Act
- Life annuity and supplementary annuity under the Military Injuries Act
- Disability allowance (disability benefit under the Act on Disability Benefits)
- Military allowance and housing assistance under the military allowance scheme
- Additional war pensions
- Compensation for special costs under the Accident Insurance Act or the Military Injuries Act
- Compensation paid under non-statutory insurance, such as private accident insurance or medical expenses insurance
- Preferential income granted under the legislation of another state
- Family pensions, including maintenance pensions and supplementary maintenance pensions
Benefits that reduce the daily allowance
- Guarantee pension, if it has been granted as a supplement to one of the benefits listed above
- Child home care allowance (care allowance and care supplement); also child home care allowance paid to a spouse is deducted from your earnings-related unemployment allowance if the spouse is working or studying and is not unemployed
- Flexible care allowance (a benefit received by the spouse does not affect it)
- Partial disability pension and partial rehabilitation allowance under the earnings-related pension acts
- Part-time pension under the earnings-related pension acts
- National pension paid on the grounds of blindness or mobility impairment under Section 12(4) of the National Pensions Act, and for example a guarantee pension granted to supplement this pension
- Daily allowance under the Military Injuries Act that has not been granted on the basis of full incapacity for work
- Daily allowance and accident pension (supplementary annuity to a life annuity) under the Accident Insurance Act that have not been granted on the basis of full incapacity for work
- Compensation for loss of earnings under the Motor Liability Insurance Act
- Accident pension that has not been granted on the basis of full incapacity for work
- Voluntary pension or supplementary pension arranged by an employer
- Pension or other benefit received from another state on the basis of full or partial incapacity for work
- Compensation for loss of earnings under the Criminal Injuries Act
- Compensation for loss of earned income (pension) under the Patient Injuries Act
- Student financial aid (if Kela has not recovered the benefit) and housing supplement
- Old-age pension that has not been granted on the basis of full years of service
- The part corresponding to the supplementary annuity to a life annuity granted under the Accident Insurance Act that has not been granted on the basis of full incapacity for work
Benefits that prevent the payment of the daily allowance
- Sickness allowance or partial sickness allowance granted under the Health Insurance Act
- Compensation for loss of earnings during rehabilitation measures
- Compensation for loss of earnings under accident insurance or the Military Injuries Act
- Old-age pension and early old-age pension
- Old-age pension granted on the basis of full years of serviceIndividual early retirement pension
- Disability pension or other benefit granted on the basis of full incapacity for work
- Rehabilitation allowance and rehabilitation benefit
- Unemployment pension
- Guarantee pension granted to supplement an old-age pension or early old-age pension under the National Pensions Act or the earnings-related pension acts
- Old-age pension granted by an EU/EEA country, when it can be equated with a pension granted in Finland
- Maternity allowance, special maternity allowance, paternity allowance, or parental allowance
- Special care allowance
- Adult education allowance granted under the Adult Education Allowance Act
- Statutory or collective agreement–based notice period during which salary would be payable
If a fund member receives a national pension under Section 22(2) of the National Pensions Act, or any other statutory benefit not mentioned above, their daily allowance is reduced by the amount of that benefit.
